When was the last time you said, “That was so good!”? Maybe it was after tasting a warm, gooey chocolate chip cookie fresh out of the oven. Or after a long hug from a friend you hadn’t seen in a while. Or maybe it was waking up to a surprise text that simply said, “I’m praying for you.” Goodness is all around us—but sometimes we’re so busy chasing “big blessings” that we overlook the small, everyday goodness that God is constantly sprinkling into our lives like powdered sugar on a Krispy Kreme doughnut.
Goodness isn’t just about being nice or well-behaved. It’s more than “minding your manners” or holding the door open for someone. Biblical goodness is a heart posture—an intentional lifestyle that reflects the very character of God. Galatians 5:22-23 tells us that goodness is a fruit of the Spirit. That means if God’s Spirit lives in us, goodness should grow from us—like fruit on a healthy tree. Goodness should be as natural as breathing.
“Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life.” – Psalm 23:6 (NIV)
God’s goodness chases after us! Every day. Whether we feel it or not. Can your finite brain comprehend that? It’s challenging for mine to completely grasp it. God’s goodness comes running after us! Amazing!
Goodness is daily and can seemingly be minuscule.
You find a $10 bill in your coat pocket from last winter. That’s God’s goodness.
Your car tire goes flat... but in your driveway, not on the highway. That’s God’s goodness.
You get the last loaf of bread at the grocery store right before a storm. Goodness again.
Your child comes home with a handmade card that says, “You’re the best!” Straight-up goodness.
God’s goodness doesn’t always come with fireworks or front-page headlines. Sometimes it comes wrapped in quiet moments, kind words, and unexpected peace.
God doesn’t just do good things—He IS good. It’s who He is, not just what He does.
“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.” – Psalm 107:1 (NIV)
Think about it: God didn’t owe us a sunrise this morning. He didn’t have to let your lungs inhale another deep breath. But He did. And not because we deserved it, but because that’s what goodness does. It gives, and gives, and gives some more.
Even when life feels unfair—when prayers are delayed or things don’t go our way—we can trust that God’s goodness hasn’t run out. It's just working behind the scenes, like dough rising before the bread is baked.
So how do we live out goodness in a world that sometimes feels anything but good?
Try these easy ways to be a walking billboard of God’s goodness:
Say thank you to someone who serves you—your barista, delivery driver, or church volunteer.
Give a compliment with no strings attached.
Let someone cut in line in traffic or even at the grocery store.
Send a surprise cash app or lunch to someone going through a hard time.
Forgive someone who doesn’t “deserve” it (just like Jesus did for us).
Every act of goodness points people to the ultimate Goodness—Jesus.
Before I go, think about these questions this week:
Where have I seen God’s goodness in my everyday life lately?
How can I reflect God’s goodness to someone else today?
What’s one small act of goodness I can do this week—without expecting anything back?
You don’t have to wait for life to be perfect to see God’s goodness. You just have to open your eyes and look around. It’s in the little moments. The ordinary days. The whispered prayers. The laughter around your dinner table. And here’s the good news—God’s goodness isn’t seasonal or limited. It’s available every day, for every soul, in every situation.
So go ahead—pass it on. Be A Well-Fed Soul who spreads the goodness of God like confetti.
If you have found this blog helpful, share it with someone else who may need to experience God’s goodness. Remember, a blessed soul is A Well-Fed Soul.
😊 He is definitely gracious with His goodness! ❤️
It’s the title for me, “Goodness Gracious“! ✝️🤗
