Today’s post is a very transparent one. So ya’ll don’t judge, ok? LOL! I just want to know has anyone ever felt like giving up, throwing in the towel and everything else? Has anyone felt like you are at an impasse? You’ve plateaued in your relationships, your career, your business, even your faith? Every day you strive to grow in your faith, do the right things, and stay on the path God has for you—but you keep causing your spiritual GPS to reroute the trip because you made a left when you should have made a right? Or maybe life has thrown so many curveballs your way recently that you’re starting to wonder if you’ll ever catch a break.
Listen, I get it. I am transparent enough and honest enough to admit I’ve been disillusioned and bewildered on this faith adventure called life. Walking this faith journey isn’t always easy. Sometimes, it feels like we’re running on an empty tank, crawling instead of walking, and many times questioning if we’re even headed in the right direction. But as I was studying this morning, a popular yet underrated Scripture reminded me of something powerful.
"Being confident of this, that He Who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." Philippians 1:6
I think we all can agree, faith gets hard at times. Not only faith as it relates to Believers but faith in general. Have you ever started something with so much excitement and enthusiasm only to desert that very thing later? I have and I know I am not the only one. Where are my New Year Resolution people? I know you all can relate.
We can begin a thing strong but over time, distractions, setbacks, and self-doubt creep in. Spiritually, this can happen to us as well. We start out on fire for Jesus. Remember when you first accepted Him? Your zeal for all things Jesus was at its peak. But then life happens—prayers go unanswered, struggles don’t magically disappear, and suddenly, our faith feels wobbly. We start questioning that very same Jesus that delivered us from this and rescued us from that until our faith is lukewarm at best. And we all know what happens to the lukewarms right? (Revelation 3:16)
At the time Philippians 1:6 was written, Paul was in prison. Paul was locked up and probably shackled. He was not in a pleasant environment. Paul had every worldly reason to be bitter and discouraged yet Paul said he was still fully convinced that God was at work in his situation. It made me assess my own life and my own situations and yes there are real issues that I’m confronted with but how much more productive, effective, and spiritually mature of me if I only changed my perception of things. Paul was confident in God’s abilities, and I must be too.
God is not finished with me yet and He is not finished with you yet either. The key phrase in Philippians 1:6 is "He Who began a good work in you." God started something in you. That moment you gave your life to Christ was just the beginning.
And here’s the best part: God doesn’t abandon His projects.
Unlike us, who sometimes start something and leave it half-finished (anyone else have unfinished DIY projects lying around?), God always completes what He starts. He’s not finished molding, shaping, and transforming us.
So, when you feel like you’re failing in your faith walk, when you’re weary, when you wonder if you’ll ever "get it right"—remember: God is still working on you!
Keep Going Even When You Feel Like Giving Up
Remember Who’s in Charge – It’s not your job to finish the work—God will. Your job is to stay connected to Him. He is the Vine. Be a branch.
Focus on Progress, Not Perfection – You may not be where you want to be, but you’re not where you used to be either. Growth takes time! So give yourself adequate grace.
Surround Yourself with Encouragement – Read Scripture, listen to worship music, talk to friends who can uplift you (I am super blessed to have friends like this). Paul had people praying for him—get yourself some faith-filled friends! They can pray you through when you are not able to pray for yourself.
Keep Showing Up – Even when you don’t feel like it, keep praying, keep reading your Bible, keep trusting God. Faith isn’t about feelings—it’s about faithfulness. Do I need to repeat that? Faith IS NOT about feelings. It is about faithfulness. Keep showing up. Keep preaching even if you have a small congregation. Keep writing even if no one buys your book. Keep giving even if you don’t receive a thank you. Keep serving even if no one acknowledges it. Keep showing up because the very thing that God started in you, will be completed by Him. What God starts, He finishes. Take a moment now to thank God for perfecting everything that concerns you in Jesus Name. (Psalm 138:8)
Let me encourage you today. If you’ve been feeling weary, discouraged, or like you’re not good enough, take heart—God is still working on you! The story isn’t over, and your best days are still ahead. So, chin up, keep going and keep showing up, and be confident and bold in Christ like Paul.
God’s got this. And He’s got you too. 💛
Until next time,
A blessed soul is A Well-Fed Soul!
