This week I have decided to discuss an unpopular topic. It is the untrending topic of commitment. Commitment is not easily embraced in today’s culture and sadly not even in the Body of Christ. Commitment, in its essence, is the decision and determination to stick with something or someone—no matter how you feel or what challenges come your way. It’s a promise to keep showing up, to keep giving your best, and to keep trusting the process even when it’s not easy. It’s not about being perfect—it’s about being present. And it’s one of the most powerful ways to show love, faith, and perseverance in your walk with God and in your relationships with others.
One of my favorite reminders about commitment is found in Psalm 37:5:
“Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him and He will do this.”
I love how straightforward this verse is. It’s like God is saying, “Bring it all to Me—your plans, your worries, your dreams. I’m in it with you.” When I read this, I hear an invitation. God isn’t asking for perfection. He’s not waiting for us to have it all figured out. He’s just asking for our hearts—our willingness to trust Him and to say, “I’m with You, Lord. Whatever comes.” Commitment in this verse isn’t about gritting our teeth and forcing ourselves to be “super Christians” or “Christian of the Year”. It’s about a daily surrender—a quiet, steady choice to place our path in His hands.
I also love that the verse doesn’t leave us hanging. It says, “Commit… trust… and He will do this.” It’s a promise. God doesn’t just receive our commitment—He works in it. When we say, “Lord, I’m committing this to You,” it’s like opening the door for Him to step in and do what only He can do. He brings His strength, His wisdom, His perfect timing. And that’s often exactly what we need. So if you’re feeling unsure about what commitment looks like for you this week, start right here:
💛 Commit your way to the Lord—whatever that looks like today.
💛 Trust that He will be faithful.
💛 Watch Him work in ways you couldn’t even imagine.
Commitment matters even in today’s culture because it’s the glue that holds our faith and our lives together—especially when everything around us feels shaky. Honestly for me, it’s easy to start something when it’s new and exciting. Whether it’s a new Bible reading plan, a fresh relationship, this blog, or a big goal, those first few steps are usually filled with energy and hope. But commitment kicks in after the excitement fades. It’s what keeps us steady when the path gets rough or we’re not seeing results right away.
💛 Because life isn’t always easy.
There will be days when we’re tired, discouraged, or tempted to give up. Commitment says, “I’m showing up anyway.”
💛 Because our emotions can’t always be trusted.
Feelings are real, but they can be fickle. Commitment says, “I’m choosing what’s right over what feels good in the moment.”
💛 Because God is a God of commitment.
Over and over, Scripture shows us that God is faithful. He doesn’t give up on us. He doesn’t walk away when things get messy. When we commit to Him, we’re reflecting His own steadfast love in our lives.
One of my newly favored Scriptures about this is Lamentations 3:22-23:
“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.”
God’s faithfulness is what fuels our commitment. Even when we feel like we’re running on empty, we can lean on the One who never runs out of compassion.
💛 Because true growth happens when we keep showing up.
We live in a world that tells us to quit when things get hard. But Jesus calls us to a deeper, richer life—a life that’s built on faithfulness. Growth happens in the everyday choices to keep going. It’s in the moments we choose to keep loving, keep forgiving, keep praying.
So why does commitment matter in 2025? Because it’s how we live out our faith in the real world. It’s how we partner with God’s faithfulness in our own lives. And it’s how we shine His light to those around us—day by day, one “yes” at a time.
Friend, whatever you’re walking through this week—God sees your heart. He knows your “yes” might be trembling. But He also knows He’s the One who will hold you steady. So, let’s lean in. Let’s stay committed. Not because it’s always easy, but because He is always worth it. 🌿

Commitment! This is such a POWERFUL message. This statement stood out to me in my reading, “It’s not about being perfect, it’s about being present.”.
